Breweries

137 breweries, carried because a reference beer, a historical event or a brewing tradition needs them — not as a directory.

Why this list is short

There are tens of thousands of breweries in the world and BeerHQ lists fewer than sixty. That is deliberate. A brewery directory without a maintained ingestion source decays into a liability within a year: breweries open, close, are bought and rename, and a list that is wrong about half its entries is worse than no list.

So a brewery appears here only when something else needs it. Every record has to say what it contributed — a style, a technique, a piece of history — rather than what it would say about itself in a press release.

5 of these have closed. They are kept rather than deleted, because historical importance does not end when a company does.
