Hop and barley region
Hallertau
The largest continuous hop-growing area in the world, in Bavaria, and the source of the classic German noble varieties.
In Germany.
Why it matters to beer
The Hallertau produces the aroma varieties that define continental lager character — Hallertauer Mittelfrüh above all — and hosts the Hüll research centre, whose breeding programme produced many modern German cultivars.
BeerHQ carries this region because other records point at it rather than because it has a brewing scene of its own to describe. What it contributes is upstream — hops, barley or history — and that shows on the pages that cite it.
